Baron Friedrich Von Schennis (1852-1918)
Baron Von Schennis was a Swiss-born painter in Berlin, and the Expressionist/Dadaist painter and writer John Höxter wrote that von Schennis, a student of Liszt, had experienced the second classical period of Weimar. Aquainted with Turgenieff and Nietzsche, he had stayed in Paris until the 1870 Franco-German war, meeting with the Goncourt brothers and Baudelaire in the salon of Princess Bonaparte.
His collection of ancient coins, sold by in several auctions: by Leo Hamburger (in June 1891) and by Jacob Hirsch (in November 1908 and November 1913).
